\nOne of the many things I love about being a wedding photographer is all the different places I get to visit. Sometimes I’ll get to see hidden gems that I’d never have even known existed. Home House<\/a> was definitely one of those places. It would be easy to walk past this beautiful Georgian terrace in London without so much as a hint as to what awaited behind the doors. But the instant I stepped through those doors I was wowed! What a place!! I could instantly see why Shuma and Chris had chosen it for their wedding celebration! Despite the grandeur and exclusivity and it being a private members club, there was no ‘stuffyness’ at all. The staff simply couldn’t be more helpful and I was shown around several exclusive (and a few hidden) rooms that were just simply amazing.\u00a0As Home House web site say “there really aren’t any rules at all. Well, just one: “Nudity is discouraged”. Naughtiness, on the other hand, is de rigueur.”<\/p>\n

Enough about the house and onto the important bit – Shuma and Chris. Chris is from South Africa and he and Shuma got married there last year but wanted to have a second evening reception in London for their friends and family. It was a lovely intimate setting, with only 25 guests who would all enjoy dinner around one long table. Kind of like a nice big family meal!<\/p>\n

Prior to the arrival of the wedding guests, we used the gardens in Portman square for a quick portrait session and to photograph some family formals too. It’s a locked garden so it felt quite nice to be able to enjoy being there in a little oasis of peace and quite amidst the built up surroundings. Another benefit of Home House! …ok, ok, enough about the house!<\/p>\n

Shuma is a graphic designer and designed all of the invites, place cards and menus herself …and did a rather excellent job I must say! I really loved everything about the styling to be honest (yes, even though I’m a bloke) – it all seemed to fit so well with the venue; the vintage style dress and lace gloves, chris’s suit handed down from his grandfather with the longitude and latitude of where it was made stitched inside. Flowers were provided by\u00a0Blue Bells<\/a>\u00a0of Islington, hair and makeup by\u00a0Steph Sion<\/a>\u00a0and I really can’t miss out the amazing\u00a0Bellinis<\/a>\u00a0who sounded absolutely fantastic!<\/p>\n

It was a marvellous afternoon & evening and I’m so glad I was able to be a small part of it – thanks so much for having me guys! I really enjoyed being around you and your families, everybody made me feel extremely welcome. I can only imagine how cool your South African wedding must have been! Enjoy the photos.<\/p>\n
