“…simply amazing from start to finish and we have now ended up with a beautiful gallery of our entire wedding day … stunned by the quality, quantity and amazing storytelling…”
I love a good Stone Barn Wedding! I’ve been lucky enough to shoot weddings at numerous Cotswolds wedding venues over the years. Stone Barn is one that definitely stands out – so much so that I even decided to write a Stone Barn venue guide! Yes, I love it that much!! As a wedding photographer, it ticks a lot of boxes!
As good as Stone Barn might be, I don’t want to go on too much about it here because this post is all about Ellis and Stuart’s amazing day. If you want to know why I like it as a venue however, check out my venue guide here. You can listen to me geeking on about the room layouts, beautiful light, idyllic Cotswold setting, and the wonderful team at the Cripps venues. If you’re considering it as your wedding venue, rest assured, it’s superb!
Stone Barn Wedding
I was super excited about Ellis and Stuart’s day from the moment they booked me to be their Stone Barn wedding photographer. I knew Ellis from shooting her brothers’ wedding at Shustoke Farm Barns a couple of years back. It was an absolute belter of a celebration with a super fun crowd, so I had more than an inkling that Ellis’ wedding would be much the same. I hadn’t actually met Stuart at that point as I think he was pretty new on the scene!! That was soon to change though and I’m so glad it did! There’s no doubt that Ellis picked a goodun’ in Stu!
Stuart and Ellis are two of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Not only warm and welcoming but also so kind and considerate. To top it all off, they’re lots and lots of fun to be around! When a bride and groom set the tone for the day like that, the whole wedding follows suit. Just check out the way the wedding party danced their way into the reception! See what I mean! In a nutshell, it’s why the day was so fantastic.
Making a weekend of it all
It’s clear that Ellis and Stu wanted all of their guests to have the most enjoyable weekend possible and as a result, really went above and beyond to make it happen. For instance, they booked a big rental accommodation near Stone Barn to allow guests to stay over. In addition, they threw an open-invite post-wedding barbeque there the day afterwards! Pretty awesome eh!
If your wedding venue is in the Cotswolds the chances are that many of your guests will have to travel and stop overnight. Subsequently, it’s worth considering making a long weekend of it. Well, I think so anyway! After all, it’s pretty rare that all your closest friends and family are all together in one spot hence taking the opportunity to make the most of it is a superb idea!
Shoe Cocktails!
Stu and the boys were just absolutely brilliant all day. From their experiments to see how many groomsmen could fit into a tiny two-seater wedding car to the moment on the dance floor when one of Stuart’s groomsmen offered him a dubious cocktail of dregs, thoughtfully mixed up and presented in his shoe! Scroll down to see if Stuart would drink said shoe cocktail!! I’m a big fan of general silliness and love photographing impromptu wedding moments like this!
I can’t write any more about the wedding without mentioning Ellis in that dress!! Absolutely stunning!! In fact, it was a total dream wedding in terms of style throughout – so besides being an amazing moment-filled day, some style shout-outs are definitely due! I’ll post them at the end of the photos.
I really could rave on all day about how much I enjoyed this wedding and being around Ellis, Stu and all their guests, but it’s probably time to tell the story of the wedding in pictures instead. So here it is… Stuart and Ellis’s Stone Barn wedding in all its glory!
If you’re looking for a Stone Barn or Cotswolds wedding photographer and are looking for natural, relaxed and beautiful wedding photos to tell the story of your day for years to come, I would love to hear from you.
