Best Wedding Photography 2016

Best Wedding Photography 2016

Well, here I am. Five years after taking my first ever wedding photos at a friends wedding I’m posting my first ever ‘best of’ review! It’s a pretty big moment for me as during the whirlwind of the last three years of shooting full time, it’s the first occasion I’ve actually stopped to gather my breath and look back on where I’ve been. It’s a tricky task, trying to pick out a tiny percentage of photos to summarise the last twelve months, but as I’ve done so I’m filled with gratitude as I reflect on all of the amazing couples who’ve invited me to photograph one of the most important and memorable days of their lives. It’s something I never take lightly and is incredibly humbling. Thanks to each and every one of you. I feel truly blessed.

All I’ve ever really set out to do in this business was try and make people happy, so it meant the world to finish off the year by receiving an award where wedding couples (the people that really matter) do the voting. What’s more, winning this award in 2016 meant that I’d actually picked up the title of ‘West Midlands Wedding Photographer of the Year’ in The Wedding Industry Awards for the third year running!!  A hat trick! Totally and utterly insane and I still can’t quite believe it! A massive, massive thanks to all my couples for taking the time to vote for me – I love you all! I can’t wait to read all of your comments as soon as they’re released (honestly, it’s the best bit of the process!)

Also, a big shout out to the person who nominated me for Rangefinder’s 30 rising Stars of wedding photography 2017. It’s an absolute honour to have been considered for such a prestigious award but to have been nominated by an industry peer who’s work I have have the utmost admiration and respect for is the biggest compliment I could ever have hoped to receive! Thank you! You know who you are!

But as lovely as awards are, as I step back and look at the photos I’ve chosen for this post, it’s re-affirmed what really matters to me and the reason I love weddings. People. You can be a crazy bunch at times but quite honestly I wouldn’t want it any other way!! I’ve loved the moments I’ve been able to share with you, not just the the craziness, but the laughter, the nerves, tears, excitement and everything else that goes into a wedding day – it really has been a fantastic journey and I can’t thank you enough for bringing me along on it! So here it is, a tiny bit of our journey together – a selection of my images from the last year.  2017 – you have a lot to live up to, but I’m already raring to go!!

  • Incredible photography skills mate! Stunning work.ReplyCancel

  • It’s funny, I’m looking at this STELLAR set of images (on the phone, as instructed…) and feel simply chuffed to bits that I got to know you and build this weird, photography/editing orientated friendship over the last year. You win awards yet remain the humblest person in the industry, impress with consistency yet often question yourself, know your shit so well yet always listen to other people’s opinion (even mine!) and actually take it on board. Big, virtual, sisterly love to you man!

You have included everything in the above set, the clever, the familiar, the epic and the common, the funny and the emotional, the abundance of colour and the moody monochrome, the airy and the dark.

I wish for your 2017 to be full of good news in both work & private life and if I may, I really hope we’ll get to photograph a wedding together too! xxReplyCancel
